British Airways is recruiting experienced pilots for its long-haul operation, with opportunities across multiple fleets. Successful candidates will initially join a long-haul fleet, with future opportunities to move between long- and short-haul fleets and progress toward command, subject to seniority and operational requirements.

- Minimum 500 hours on a relevant aeroplane type.
- Relevant aircraft experience may include a maximum of 100 hours completed in a suitable simulator.
- Relevant aeroplane type means a multi-pilot turbojet certified to CS-25 or an equivalent airworthiness standard, or a multi-pilot turboprop with at least 10 tonnes maximum certificated take-off mass or more than 19 passenger seats.
- Relevant aircraft experience within the 12 months preceding commencement of a ZFTT conversion course required.
Other License Requirements
- UK Part-FCL ATPL(A), or UK frozen ATPL(A) with all flight-hour requirements for ATPL(A) issue completed.
- Current type rating required.
- Current type rating does not need to be endorsed on the UK licence.
- Applicants must remain in possession of their UK frozen ATPL(A) or ATPL(A), including where an EASA or other ICAO licence is also held.
- Applicants who meet the ATPL flight-hour requirements but have not yet upgraded their licence will complete the upgrade during type rating training.
Additional Requirements
- Height between 1.57 m and 1.91 m.
- Pilots above 1.91 m may apply but must successfully complete a functionality check for BA flight deck seating positions.
- Valid passport with at least 12 months remaining before expiry required.
- Ability to comply with British Airways uniform standards required.
- Tattoos are permitted provided they are not on the hands, face or head.
- Ability to swim 50 metres unaided and then tread water for 3 minutes required.
- Ability to tread water while fitting a lifejacket required.
- Ability to pull own body weight from the water into a life raft using its handholds required.
- Long-haul suitability assessed during the simulator assessment.
- Successful candidates enter a hold pool before receiving a fleet and role offer.
